To convey the depth and atmosphere of nature, Yoon uses natural black ink, traditionally used in Asian calligraphy and painting, capturing the traditional essence of ink painting through a painstaking process that unfolds over time. By repeatedly adjusting the concentration of the ink, she adds layers of depth and contrast to the wood's surface, allowing even the most delicate details of nature to be expressed with precision.
Yoon’s works often feature figures reminiscent of those in the paintings of Jeong Seon and Kang Hui-an, who are depicted fishing, gazing at distant mountains, or reclining in leisure. By integrating these figures into her three-dimensional landscapes, Yoon invites viewers to share in the natural world that our ancestors cherished, offering a glimpse into the spirit of humor and appreciation of life.
